Success Story: Bringing Swimming To Everyone

City Swim Project: Strategic Planning

The Challenge:

Representatives of The Wilson Foundation needed strategic planning assistance for an emerging non-profit organization they wanted to support due to its differentiating performance with an underserved constituency and potential for significant growth. The City Swim Project (CSP) formerly known as Buffalo City Swim Racers (BCSR) was formed in 2012 by Mike Switalski and a small group of volunteers to make an impact in diverse communities by providing safe access and a supportive environment through the sport of swimming.

The Solution:

Catapult designed and facilitated a three-month planning process with a team of board members, staff and volunteers to develop a detailed and actionable 5-year strategic plan that will enable CSP to expand and grow its business model to more effectively and efficiently serve its targeted audience.

The Outcome:

Following a successful and productive planning process, CSP launched implementation of its strategic plan with additional support and assistance from Catapult. In the first year, they are serving 50% more students, have expanded their board and recruited a management team. Also, CSP has strengthened its base of funding support.
